Now that you've played your first chord, I'm sure you're dying for more. This is where Chord Charts or Diagrams come in. They basically show you exactly which string need to be pressed in order to play the chord.
In the previous section, we played a C chord. What you see beside is the chord chart for a C chord. It is quite simple to read. The chord name is on top and the dots represent where each string needs to be pressed.
Google is your best friend
For any chord, you can usually use google to find it. Some chord charts show which fingers to use, however, this is only a suggestion. The chord will sound fine as long as you follow the diagram. NOTE: I have found several chord charts that incorrect, so if it sounds wrong, try another one.
How Do I Play A Song?
When you pick up a music book, you'll see something like this:

The easiest thing to do is to strum the chords and either sing, hum or whistle the tune.
Its easiest if you pick a song that you know that isn't too complicated. Look at the chords to see if you know how to play them or if you need to learn new chords. Then sing, hum, whistle the song and accompany yourself. Simply match the chords to the words. Below are the chord diagrams for C, F and G.
